There are a LOT of Disney World rides, and unless you plan to live at Disney World or spend multiple weeks visiting, it is going to be difficult to see and do everything! That is okay! As a lifelong annual pass holder for over 20 combined years, I will take you through the best rides at Disney and which it is okay to skip.
There are almost 50 rides at Disney World, and as Disney adds new rides with all the updates, there will be even more to choose from. The rides at Disney consist of everything from family-friendly Disney rides that are perfect for babies and small children, all the way up to major thrill rides that will excite even the harshest critic [like launching from 0-60mph at Hollywood Studios!]
First, this article is going to rank the best Walt Disney World rides overall by park so that you can plan accordingly. Then, we will go further and break it down to the best rides by age category ranging from small children to big kids of all ages!
We will also be including some things that we don’t recommend heading to first on our list of rides at Disney World. This isn’t to say that you should skip them altogether, we just don’t want you heading there first and skipping some of the other fantastic rides and attractions that Disney offers!
If you are interested in reading more details about the rides for planning purposes, we have the following helpful guides:

Best Rides At Disney’s Magic Kingdom
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
This newer Magic Kingdom ride is an absolute must-see! Built in 2014, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is still one of the newer Disney World Rides and it has the features to prove it. With beautiful animatronics, you will feel as though you really have stepped into the magical world of Snow White. It truly does belong in Fantasyland. This is the premiere Magic Kingdom Fastpass so make sure to snag it well in advance if this is a ride you want to do!
This is what many people consider to be one of the best Disney World rides so, of course, it had to top of the list of what to do at Magic Kingdom. While it isn’t my personal favorite, I still enjoy it and put it up on top of this Disney World ride list specifically because the Fastpass is more difficult to get!
Don’t forget to check out our detailed breakdown of the Best Time To Visit Disney World for help with planning!
Space Mountain
Space Mountain is one of my favorite overall rides at Disney World, not just at Magic Kingdom! It is located in the far reaches of Tomorrowland and is fun for many different age groups.
Space Mountain is a rollercoaster like no other and a great thing to do in Magic Kingdom. Fly through the darkest parts of space in this fast coaster that teens and adults, and adventurous kids over 1.12m, will absolutely love.
If you’re not a fan of rollercoasters, then this is not the one for you as it features a lot of drops and fast turns and takes place mostly in the dark. This fact, however, is one of the reasons it features so high up on this list. My mom hates rollercoasters and the twist and turn motions and she has never been on it. Take this off your list of Disney World rides to try if you are like her!
Splash Mountain
Disclaimer: Splash Mountain is down for refurbishment and will reopen as “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” in late 2024.
Splash Mountain is another one of my top favorite Disney rides! Even if it is the dead of winter and it is freezing out, I will still go on this ride. It is one of the best and I highly recommend it!
One of the greatest things about Disney World, and Disney in general is the amazing stories that it weaves. The stories are what makes Disney World one of the best theme parks out there and Splash Mountain one of the best Magic Kingdom rides.
Lots of theme parks have water rides like Splash Mountain, but it’s just a quick up and down with a splash at the end; with no real character and no enjoyment other than the drop at the end. Whilst that is mostly the point of the ride, Disney World’s Splash Mountain has a lot more to it.
The animatronics and the thrill marry together for one of the best rides at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom that you shouldn’t miss!
Peter Pan’s Flight
Peter Pan’s Flight is an incredible feat of Imagineering and as such is a beloved ride to Disney fans, old and young. Right near the entrance to Fantasyland, it’s best to try and get on early, or else get a Fastpass as the line is always extraordinarily long for what is a very short ride.
It is on this list because the engineering is truly fantastic and it is a lovely ride that the whole family can go on. Although I don’t go on it often due to long lines, it is a ride that is near to my heart. I recommend going at Rope Drop [the moment the park opens] and going here early in the morning if you have young children who can’t ride much else!
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
Now, this ride is not one you will find on many Best Rides at Disney World lists, however, we think that’s a mistake. This unassuming ride in Tomorrowland is a wonderfully relaxing ride for the whole family to take a minute and enjoy being together. You could even have a little snack whilst you’re going around so you can make the most of every minute in Disney World.
I love the People Mover because it is a great break from the midday heat in Florida. You also get to sit down and put your feet up and relax a bit after walking for miles. Even if the line seems long, you will get through it quite quickly as this ride doesn’t stop unless someone needs extra time to get on.
Haunted Mansion
It may appear that Liberty Square doesn’t have much to offer, but the Haunted Mansion is definitely worth a trip when you’re looking for the best rides in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. An absolute classic, Haunted Mansion is suitable for all ages and sizes so it’s a real treat for the whole family!
It’s a relatively long ride so you get chance to sit back and enjoy the wonderfully spooky world for a while, rather than some of the more speedy rides on this list. It is very dark so young children may be scared easily. I went on it as a kid and loved it and it is still one of my favorite rides. Only you know your child so plan accordingly!
TRON Lightcycle Run
Race through the computerized world of TRON – the Grid- and immerse yourself into this world by boarding your Lightcycle and launching up to speeds of 60 mph. Even though TRON Lightcycle Run is a quick ride, it’s thrilling, fun, and different from anything else Magic Kingdom has to offer.
It’s great for thrill-seekers, those who must ride the newest rides at Disney, and those who want to experience one of the most unique ride vehicles at Magic Kingdom. The Lightcycle vehicle makes you truly feel like you are racing on Team Blue, and we think it’s one of the best Disney rides because of it.
Worst Disney Rides At Magic Kingdom
These are some of the worst Disney World rides on this list. They are just a little boring and not worth waiting for at Magic Kingdom. Of course, your family may think differently, but this is my recommendation on what to skip while you are touring Magic Kingdom!
Dumbo The Flying Elephant
It is just another circular flying ride that is over quite quickly. There are multiple rides of this nature at Magic Kingdom which is why we recommend skipping unless you have done everything else you wanted to do!
Astro Orbiter
This is a circular flying ride for adults and is set high above Tomorrowland. It is one of the Disney World rides on this list that does not have Fastpass access and the line is always very long. It offers good views but beyond that, it isn’t the most interesting ride at Disney.
Mad Tea Party
It is a generic ride that you can find at pretty much any theme park in the world. Nothing is special about it but if you are looking for a fun break in between waiting in line, the line goes pretty quickly for this one.
Goofy’s Barnstormer
I used to love this Disney ride as a kid, but honestly? It is one of the shortest rides at Magic Kingdom and the line is always 30-45 minutes. Unless you have a young thrill-seeker, it totally isn’t worth the wait in any way, shape, or form!
Under The Sea — Journey Of The Little Mermaid
I may get a lot of flack for this, but I think that Under The Sea — Journey Of The Little Mermaid is one of the worst Disney World rides. Overall, it is good fun, but Disney went CHEAP on the construction. Those of us that have been going to Disney for years can easily tell this, but you may find it exciting.
They just didn’t put much time or effort into creating it and it could have been done better overall.
Best Rides At Disney’s Epcot
Test Track
I totally love Test Track and easily consider it to be one of the best rides at Disney World! It is fun, fast, and memorable. Although I did like it better when GM sponsored the ride, the Chevvy version is still fun and worth a stop.
You will “test drive” a car that you create while waiting in line which is the best part! The four tests of the obstacle course are: capability, efficiency, responsiveness, and power. During the final test, power, your car will race outside to see how it handles speeds up to 65 miles per hour making this one of the fastest Disney World rides!
Even though Disney considers this a thrill ride, it’s fairly family-friendly. It’ll be exciting for those not old enough to drive to have the chance to control a car and navigate through some crazy obstacles. Some kids may be scared of the acceleration at the end, but a lot of them will love it!
The height requirement is 40″, and this ride is for kids, teens, tweens, and adults alike.
Soarin’ Around the World
Aside from Flights Of Passage, which we will discuss below, Soarin easily tops my list of rides at Disney World that I will always go on! Maybe it is because I like to travel, but this ride is just so well-done and memorable!
Soarin’ takes you on a tour around the world – from a birds-eye view! You’ll fly over natural wonders and manmade marvels, and experience our world in a way you never thought possible!
The Swiss Alps, Taj Mahal, The Great Pyramids, and even Spaceship Earth are just a few of the famous sights you’ll encounter. It features an IMAX projection screen, and that combined with the gentle motion of the ride will make you think you are really are soaring over the world! It’s a family-friendly ride, with a height requirement of 40″.
Even people prone to motion sickness generally find this Disney World attraction enjoyable because you move along with the picture and you are in a giant room, not an enclosed space!
Living with the Land
One of the most underrated rides at Epcot, Living with the Land is a personal favorite! I may get some flack for recommending this as one of the best rides at Disney World, but it really and truly is. It is about LEARNING so go into the rid with an open mind.
It’s a quiet escape from the noise and chaos of Disney World and a great way to learn a little something too. This is a gentle boat tour through the world of farming, and even goes through a greenhouse! Food grown here is served at Sunshine Seasons and Garden Grill in the Land Pavilion, and this is a wonderful way for the kids – or adults to see where the food comes from.
This is a slow-moving ride that is perfect for the whole family and I will literally go on this ride every single time I visit Epcot!
Frozen Ever After
Lovers of Frozen and Disney music will love this Disney World ride! Take a trip to the Norway Pavilion in the World Showcase, and board your log flume and hitch a ride to Arendelle. This ride will take you to see Olaf, Anna, many others, and of course, the ice queen herself, Elsa. You’ll sing along to the songs from the movie, and enjoy seeing all your Frozen friends on this slow-moving dark water ride.
It is currently the best use of Epcot Fastpasses as the lines are often quite long. As new rides at Epcot open, this may change, but for now, using your Fastpass for Frozen Ever After is a great bet, especially if you want to see the ride.
Spaceship Earth
The ginormous, silver geodesic sphere that is Spaceship Earth isn’t just the icon of Epcot, but it houses one of the best Epcot rides. I was shocked to hear that some people I knew from growing up went to Epcot and thought there was a roller coaster inside “The Epcot Ball” and skipped it! This couldn’t be further from the truth!
Board your time machine and take a slow-moving dark ride through the history of people and technology, with a look to the future. You’ll start during the Stone Age and follow the human race through technological discoveries up until the computer age – and beyond.
This is one of the longer options on our Disney World rides list and is a slowly moving experience. It is another great “learning” ride like Living With The Land and the animatronics are beautifully done! If you are going on a busy day, I recommend making a Fastpass for this ride. You can check out our Disney World Crowd Calendar to see the crowds on the day you are visiting Epcot.
Ratatouille
Ratatouille is one of the fun, family Disney World rides in EPCOT, located in the France Pavillion. Based on the popular animated film of the same name, this 4D adventure has guests joining Remy on an adventure in Gusteau’s restaurant.
You’ll get to see, smell, and feel as if you are in the restaurant with the French Chefs preparing for the big dinner rush. Viewing the screens requires the use of 3D glasses, so if you or your party are sensitive to simulations or 3D films, you may want to pass on this Disney World ride.
Ratatouille functions on a trackless system, like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, that takes you through familiar scenes from the Ratatoullie film, and a few new scenes as well. This ride does not have a height requirement, making it the perfect ride for everyone in your party to enjoy.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is one of the best Disney World rides! This ride, located in EPCOT, is an indoor galactic rollercoaster that has the Omni-mover feature, so think Haunted Mansion meets Space Mountain.
If you are motion-sensitive or are prone to motion sickness, you may want to consider skipping this ride. While the coaster does not go upside down, it does twist and turn in a way that may have riders feeling the movement of the ride. There is a height requirement of 42 inches, but otherwise, it is a great ride for all of your party to enjoy.
The soundtrack for the ride rotates through six songs from the mid to late 70s and early to mid-80s so that way, each ride creates a different experience for the guests. When we were told this was better than Flights of Passage and Rise of the Resistance, we were doubtful.
However, this ride is worth has quickly climbed the ranks as one of our all-time favorite Disney World rides.
Worst Rides At Epcot
The Seas With Nemo & Friends
I’m sorry, but like The Little Mermaid ride at Magic Kingdom, Disney did not put very much time or effort into converting the fun and educational “Living Seas” ride into the Nemo ride. It is boring and uninteresting. The lines are never long so this is a waste of Epcot Fastpasses. If you have small kids or want to check it out, just walk on!
Journey Into Imagination With Figment
It really pains me to add Journey Into Imagination With Figment to the “worst” rides at Disney World list but here it is. I actually love the Figment ride but I am in the Figment cult following I think!
I don’t want to recommend it and then you go and think it is stupid and hate it and blame me! I think it is a fun ride but again, Disney took away the best parts of the original Figment ride and made it cheaper.
Gran Fiesta Tour
I may sound like a broken record, but this is another former best ride at Disney World that Disney ruined. Gran Fiesta Tour is in the Mexico Pavilion in the Epcot World Showcase and features Donald and friends. It used to feature educational images of Mexico and now it is just weird.
The lines have become quite long, sometimes even 30 minutes, which is totally not worth wasting your time on!
Best Rides At Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Star Wars: Rise Of The Resistance
Star Wars: Rise Of The Resistance is easily the best ride at Disney overall, right up there with flights of passage. You will be shocked, amazed, and thrilled when you ride this ride. It is up there with a legendary status for the best Disney World rides and shouldn’t be missed!
Rise Of The Resistance is DIFFERENT and features a different boarding process and more! CLICK HERE to see how! This is *essential* information or else you may leave without being able to ride this ride! Until things calm down, you are going to want to read the article above!
As soon as I entered the first part of the ride, I was entertained and interested. I was glad to see Star Wars characters that I recognized. I didn’t recognize many people on Smuggler’s Run so this was great! By the time I had moved to the second portion of this 15 minute+ experience, I was welling up with tears. It was already SO SO SO well done! I couldn’t believe it! 100% worth the hype and we were just getting started!
Then we proceeded throughout the experience, and it was an experience, and I continued to be in shock and awe!! I was BLOWN AWAY! The level of detail. The graphics. The immersive experience. It was insane. I was transported to Star Wars that I grew up with mixed with the newer Star Wars characters. You are NOT going to want to miss this Hollywood Studios ride!
CLICK HERE FOR FULL INFORMATION ABOUT RISE OF THE RESISTANCE!
Mickey And Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Mickey And Minnie’s Runaway Railway is easily one of the best rides at Disney. While it replaced the Great Movie Ride and I was very salty about that, it isn’t trying to imitate the Great Movie Ride in any way!
It utilizes the same technology as Rise Of The Resistance above but has no height requirements and is a family-friendly ride! Family-friendly does NOT mean boring in any way, shape, or form! The latest technology, sites, and sounds means that this ride is here to stay!
New attractions at Disney World are usually hits, but there have definitely been some misses. You do not have to worry about that with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. It is straight-up delightful from start to finish.

Toy Story Midway Mania
Toy Story Midway Mania is one of the best Disney World rides ever created. If I could only ever ride one ride at Disney for the rest of my life, this would be up there with Flights Of Passage and Rise Of The Resistance. It is a spinning, fast-paced shooting game in 3D, where your goal is to get the most points!
This ride is perfect for all ages, and there isn’t a height requirement. Grab your 3D glasses, climb in your ride vehicle, and get ready to shoot at some virtual targets. The whole family will have fun competing to get the highest score in the 5 shooting games that are based on classic carnival games.
This Hollywood Studios ride is great for kids, and all lovers of Toy Story. Even if you have never seen Toy Story before, this Disney ride is a competitive game that anyone will enjoy. I am not kidding when I say that it easily tops my list of the best rides at Disney!
Rock’n’ Rollercoaster
This ride makes the list but it isn’t for everyone and it isn’t for the faint of heart. It is my favorite roller coaster at Walt Disney World and one of my favorite rides that I have ever been on as far as roller coasters go!
Rock’n’ Rollercoaster is a serious Hollywood Studios ride and children or those who don’t like motion sickness and rides should avoid it at all costs! It’s located off Sunset Boulevard near Tower of Terror, and it means business when it comes to being a rollercoaster.
This ride features three inversions and a 0-60 mph launch at the beginning! And it’s LOUD too! It features rock classics by the band Aerosmith, and the music is pumped in through 125 speakers, 24 subwoofers, and a total 32,000 watt stereo system. If you like thrill rides, this will be one of the best Disney rides for you!
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
This is a classic on our list of rides at Disney World and thankfully it hasn’t been messed with or ruined too much! It is not for the faint of heart, although sometimes I can convince my mom to ride it with me when she won’t even ride Space Mountain!
It is a “drop” ride and isn’t for everyone. If you don’t like these types of falling rides, I highly suggest avoiding it. Otherwise, it offers great views over Hollywood Studios and a fun and exhilarating experience!
Slinky Dog Dash
Slinky Dog Dash is the newest rollercoaster in the park and one of the newer Disney World rides that opened with Toy Story Land. It’s a family-friendly coaster that takes you on a ride of Andy’s “Mega Coaster Play Kit” on the back of Slinky Dog. While it is a coaster with a small launch and some good drops and turns, Disney considers it very kid-friendly.
It is a very smooth ride and isn’t jerky at all. It is great for a first roller-coaster experience for people of all ages. I actually quite enjoy this ride! The lines are very long and it is a coveted Hollywood Studios Fastpass so make sure to book early if you want to experience it!
Worst Rides At Hollywood Studios
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
I will be the one to say it….this ride SUCKED! This is the newest Hollywood Studios ride and is located in Galaxy’s Edge. The Millenium Falcon is hidden within the middle of Galaxy’s Edge, and the reveal is breathtaking. But that is about it!
The ride is a simulator and you get motion sickness quite easily. It isn’t remotely exciting for a brand new Disney ride and is similar to Star Tours which has existed for many years. Disney failed miserably when creating a new ride and it really shows with this choice.
Alien Swirling Saucers
This is a Fastpass option and you should certainly not take it or use it! It is just your generic spinning ride, sort of like the teacups at Magic Kingdom. The line is horribly set up and can often be longer. There is no reason to wait in a long line for this ride as you will be doing yourself a disservice!
Best Rides At Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Flight’s Of Passage
Flight’s Of Passage is hands-down the single best ride that Disney has ever created. It blends technology and storyline so well. I don’t want to give anything away, but it is the ride you should wait 49 hours for and not regret it!
Like Soarin at Epcot, you fly into “a screen” but it is so much better. As my sister put it, it is like “Soarin on crack” but even that doesn’t accurately describe it. The sights, sounds, smells and more are perfect for the whole family!
Before you wait in line, make sure to try sitting in the seats outside of the ride so that you can ensure that you fit. I have seen many people unable to ride this attraction because they didn’t fit in the seats properly and were sadly kicked out. This could be avoided if you simply try before you stand in line.
If you rode Flight’s Of Passage and think it is the best Disney World Ride ever made, I would love to hear from you in the comments below!
Expedition Everest
This is my second favorite roller coaster at Disney! It is really well done and is high energy, unlike the Magic Kingdom roller coasters. You follow the myth of the yeti in Nepal and it is quite a fun ride.
This ride also offers a single rider line which I often utilize to cut down on wait time. This allows you to enjoy the ride without using a Fastpass and without waiting in the normal line. If you choose to go this route, understand that your party will be separated for the duration of the ride.
The best part about this Disney World ride is the fact that there is a portion that goes backward! This sets it apart from other roller coasters on the property and really makes for a unique experience.
Dinosaur
Dinosaur is one of the more unique Walt Disney World rides because of the technology and animatronics. Again this is a ride that Disney thankfully has not ruined. Essentially, you are going back in time to “bring a Dinosaur back” to a scientist in the modern-day.
There are life-size Dino animatronics and you are basically 4-wheel driving thousands of years ago! The ride feels like you are off-roading in a jeep and is quite fun and energetic. I have to be honest, I was forced on this ride as a child and was terrified.
It really isn’t that scary now and if you or your family loves Dinosaurs then this will be one of the best rides at Disney World for you. That being said, it is quite dark inside and there are a few roaring Dinosaurs so make sure you know your family and what they like before riding!
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Animal Kingdom is an accredited zoo and Kilimanjaro Safaris is a ride that involves living animals and a conservation project. This means that every single time you go on this Disney ride you will receive a different experience!
The guides actually drive your safari truck, you aren’t on a track. The animals, from elephants and lions to gators and zebras, are all very real and move about the ride at will. There are many times when your safari truck must stop because there is a giraffe crossing the road or standing in the middle without moving.
It is truly one of the best Disney World rides because it blends conservation with a quality experience. It is a worthy use of your Animal Kingdom Fastpass and is one of the longest rides at Walt Disney World!
If you really want to see the animals active, you are going to want to ride it early in the morning or during dusk. Either way, there is not bad time to experience Kilimanjaro Safaris, just better times!
Na’vi River Journey
Na’vi River Journey is the other new Disney ride in Avatarland. It is a very slow and short moving boat ride, but the visuals and detail are breathtaking. I don’t recommend using your Fastpass on Na’vi River Journey if you can avoid it, but if the lines are short or you snag a day-of Fastpass, it is worth seeing.
It is perfect for the whole family and although the lines are very long, you can ride it early in the morning or later at night when everyone is running to Flights Of Passage. We never recommend skipping Flights Of Passage for Na’vi River Journey, but I meant after you have done FOP at least once on your trip!
Worst Rides At Animal Kingdom
TriceraTop Spin
TriceraTop Spin is another one of those Disney World rides that spin you around up in the air just like Dumbo and the Aladdin ride at Magic Kingdom. It is pretty boring and uninteresting, and unless you have tiny children, we recommend avoiding it.
Kali River Rapids
Like the Figment ride, it slightly pains me to add Kali River Rapids on the “worst” Disney ride list, but here it lands. It is the only water ride at Disney World where you get positively soaked. There is no way to go on Kali River Rapids without getting drenched like you stepped out of the shower or pool.
I personally love Kali River Rapids on a hot day but many people aren’t a fan which is why it lands on this part of the list. It is sadly one of the shorter options on this list of rides at Disney World which is why we put it on the “worst” category.
The lines are often long and then you go on the ride and you think “this is it?!” because it ends quite quickly! I don’t want anyone to waste their time or valuable Fastpasses and then regret it later. That being said, it is a fun ride even if it is on the “worst” section of this list!
Best Disney World Rides By Age
In the next sections of this article, we are going to break down the best rides at Disney World by age group. Now, you have read this article and you may find a discrepancy when I recommend Dumbo for preschoolers even though it made my “worst” list above.
Please keep in mind that my rankings of the Disney rides above is what I personally rank them overall. Not by age category as many children may be too small or scared to ride certain attractions! This is a quick breakdown of the top 10 rides that I recommend at Disney World based on age.
Best Toddler Rides At Disney
These rides are perfect for the whole family. They are easy-going and fun. There are no scary elements and the dark rides are good fun for everyone. These are a safe bet for anyone of any age to go on.

Best Young Child Rides At Disney
These rides are great for your preschool and kindergarten age kids. They aren’t toddlers but they aren’t in grade school yet. Please note that when choosing from this list of the best Disney rides for smaller children, understand that our recommendations are based on kids overall. Only you know if your child is ready for a “kid-friendly” roller coaster or if they are scared of drops. Keep this in mind when choosing from this list of the best rides at Disney for preschoolers.

Best Big Kid Rides At Disney
By this point, your kid is getting into the ability to ride lots of the more interesting rides at Disney World! Like the preschool-age kids above, only you know if your child is okay with certain types of things such as drops or roller coasters. Do keep this in mind when choosing from this list. Most grade-school age children will enjoy any of these fun rides at Disney World.
I was a very shy “big kid” when I was in grade school so if your little is like me, they may not be interested in things like Test Track until they are older. Simply ask a cast member to explain the ride if you are unsure!

Best Tween Rides At Disney
This is when riding rides at Disney gets really fun! Tweens are often willing to try new things. This is when I started going on the really serious rides like roller coasters that go upside down. Don’t pressure your tween into doing anything that they aren’t comfortable with but you can show them this list with a word of encouragement.
The best Disney rides for tweens consist of a mixture between roller coasters and thrill rides. Of course, tweens can ride any of the categories above this one, but these are some rides they may be ready for at or get more out of at this age.
- Smugglers Run. Location: Hollywood Studios | Height Requirement: 38 inches

- TRON Lightcycle Run. Location: Magic Kingdom | Height Requirement: 48 inches
Best Teen And Adult Rides At Disney
This is my personal recommendation on the best rides for teens and adults. Yes, I added a lot of thrill-seeker rides here because these often appeal to older guests. If you are an adult or teen who doesn’t like crazy thrill rides, that is okay! See my suggestions for the children below or look at the list above to find something that fits your interests!
If I was planning a trip for a fellow adult or a teen who loves fun rides, these are exactly what I would put them on. Of course, this includes my personal favorites as well because, well, I’m an adult too!
- Rise Of The Resistance. Location: Hollywood Studios | Height Requirement: 40 inches
- Avatar Flight of Passage. Location: Animal Kingdom | Height Requirement: 44 inches

Hands down, Flight of Passage is the best ride ever created. Disney’s imagineers truly outdid themselves with this one. I’ve heard it said that the popularity of FOP is due to the fact that it is the closest a human will ever come to really flying and I believe it. It is so realistic that I found myself consoling my frightened banshee as I heard him panting after escaping a close call with Turuk (sp). I waited two hours in line the first time I rode and got off ready to wait another two (unfortunately the wait had increased to four so I didn’t ride again that day.). But I ride at least once every trip. If I could only do one attraction, it would definitely be this one. It is an incredible feat of engineering that I doubt can ever be topped.

SO SO AGREE 100%!!!!
We are Platinum Passholders, and go as often as possible. I always tell guests I meet in the parks, no matter how long the line is at FOP, WAIT!!! I have never met a single person who has been disappointed, or upset about the wait, after they have ridden. Outside of the ride being amazing, the Que is also it’s own experience. It is hands down, the best Que at Disney. It’s nice to have a Fast Pass, but you miss all of the beauty of the Que in the FP line. It’s really worth waiting in the Que at least once. I met one group who waited three hours TWICE the same day they loved the ride so much. It is truly an experience you will never forget. I always said it was the best ride ever created, in any theme park in the world, EVER! Then…ROTR opened. It definitely gives FOP a run for it’s money. The system for riding is no joke, and you have to follow the system. Boarding groups are GONE within 60 seconds of the Virtual Que opening. I was fortunate to ride it on Opening Day, and again since then. The Virtual Que has only become more difficult. However, it is WORTH every minute of the frustration you might feel during the boarding group process. It is an AMAZING EXPERIENCE. Disney has never created anything like the fully immersed experience this ride puts us inside of. A month and a half into Quarantine, I am so happy I made the decision to have a Mommy Daughter day, and make Opening Day of Mickey and Minney’s Runaway Railway happen. It is so much fun, and the technology is unreal. We ended up riding three times my daughter loved it so much. For a three year old to want to stand in line, that says something! My favorite part, and I wish I had a picture, happened because we ended up being on the last train of the day. As we got off the train, all of the Cast Members working the ride we’re waiting for us, and clapping as we exited. They were so excited about the ride, and seeing all the work they’d put in leading up to Opening Day pay off. It was an AWESOME moment:-) I know Disney will be different when it re-opens, but we will still be there!
YES YES YES!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! Awwwww I’m glad you did MMRR too! It is sooo cute and amazing!!!
I love it!!! I have not been to Disney World yet, but I am going soon! Even though I haven’t been, I read this article and found out which rides I should suggest to my parents. (Yes, I am a kid.)
Hello Judah! Thank you for your comment! I hope you enjoy your trip!
Love this article! Haven’t been to disney yet, but it’s the top of my bucket list! I’m an Aussie, so it is obviously quite a big trip to visit disney world, and this list will really help choose which rides are a must see with my precious time spent there. Much appreciated that you mentioned which rides require 3D glasses and may cause motion sickness as I’m a thrill seeker, but I struggle with migraines and other chronic illnesses. Thanks again!
Of course!!! I also have this post too which breaks down the rides too! https://disneytrippers.com/disney-motion-sickness/
