There are so many great things to do at Hollywood Studios for adults! Even though the park does have some wonderful family-friendly rides and shows, the thrill rides and some of the food here is geared towards adults!
I am an adult, and I love visiting! I will walk you through all of my personal suggestions on what adults should see and do at this park.
I think that Hollywood Studios is worth it for adults if you know what to look for. For example, you can visit an out-of-this-world bar in Galaxy’s Edge, take a ride in a limo with Aerosmith, and catch up with the characters from their childhoods. Plus, where else can you watch a Broadway-quality show the same day you visit the Twilight Zone?
We have our favorite things at Hollywood Studios for adults here! Keep reading to try our favorite foods, ride our favorite rides, and get our top suggestions for the perfect way to do Hollywood Studios in a day!
Best Hollywood Studios Rides for Adults
Even though there are some great family-friendly rides here, there are also some thrill rides! Some of them are definitely not for the faint of heart, or for little ones. Some of our favorite Hollywood Studios rides for adults are:
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Rise of the Resistance is a fun, thrilling, and exciting trip into the world of Star Wars. Adults will love it because it’s fast-paced, fully immersive, and will be wowed by the animatronics in the ride. Plus, adults will really enjoy being able to banter and interact with the First Order Officers!
I actually went on this the day it opened, it was chaotic and I cried at how epic it was. I have been many times since!
You’ll love joining the fight against them, and being able to see some of your favorite Star Wars characters as well. Don’t miss this one, as it’s a great way to join the resistance, fight the first order, and enjoy some of the best of Disney’s Imagineering.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
If you’ve ever wanted to take a limo to an Aerosmith concert, here’s your chance! On Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, go from 0-57 mph in less than 3 seconds, do 3 full immersions, all while listening to blaring Aerosmith music. It has to be one of the best Hollywood Studios rides for adults for the thrill factor alone. Plus, we know that only adults may know who Aerosmith is (sorry not sorry!).
Because this ride goes so fast, does go upside, and is SO LOUD, it does have a 48″ height requirement. That’s one of the highest for Disney World, so this is definitely more of an adult ride (or for a brave teen!).
This is one of my favorite rides at Disney World, I have gone so many times!
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
If you know anything about Hollywood Studios, I’m sure you knew this ride would be. How could it not be? Come take a ride in a haunted elevator, and get pulled and dropped several floors at random, and you’ll understand why this is one of the best things to do for adults at Hollywood Studios.
You’ve got creepy Twilight Zone theming, darkness, ghosts, and sudden fast drops. This is one of the ultimate Hollywood Studios for adults rides, and we can’t recommend it enough.
Toy Story Mania!
Okay, I know this is a family ride but it absolutely deserves a spot on this list of Hollywood Studios for adults. It’s fun, competitive, and overall a great 3D ride! Adults will love competing against those in their ride vehicle and vying for the highest score.
Plus, we grew up with Toy Story! We’ve loved these characters a long time, and adults will enjoy being able to see them come to life in a slew of midway-style amusement games!
I am not kidding when I say that this is one of my top favorite rides in all of Disney, and I am an adult. I tell every adult friend I know to go on it when they visit the parks, and they always tell me it was one of their favorites!
Best Restaurants at Hollywood Studios for Adults
If you’re looking for some of the best Hollywood Studios dining for adults, we’ve got you covered! These restaurants are a little bit pricier or feel more “adult” than some of the other restaurants at Hollywood Studios. One of these restaurants is even a signature dining experience, and both of these would be perfect for a Hollywood Studios date night.
The Hollywood Brown Derby
Based on the iconic Hollywood, California restaurant of the same name, the Brown Derby is a signature dining restaurant at Hollywood Studios. This old Hollywood-inspired restaurant features a fancier menu than you will find at other restaurants in this park, and it is definitely pricier.
But, if you’re looking for a date night or special occasion place to eat, the Brown Derby is it. It’s one of the best restaurants at Hollywood Studios for adults, and you can’t skip The Famous Cobb Salad or Grapefruit Cake here – they’re iconic and must-haves.
Pro tip: the Brown Derby has a lounge right outside too! You can get some great drinks and bites here, without having to get a reservation.
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano
This hidden gem is the perfect place for a sit-down meal at Hollywood Studios. The food is delicious, and comforting, and it’s not as expensive or fancy as The Hollywood Brown Derby. They do classics well here, like the chicken alla parmigiana, minestrone soup, Caesar salad, and charred strip steak.
The atmosphere is fun and funky, think California meets New York meets Italy, and I love a Hollywood Studios date night here! It’s pretty easy to get on the walk-up list, and not only is it one of my favorites, but it’s also one of the best restaurants at Hollywood Studios for adults.
Adult Recommended Show and Entertainment at Hollywood Studios
If you’re creating a Hollywood Studios touring plan for adults, make sure you add in some of the shows and entertainment in this park! I have seen all of these shows MULTIPLE times, and they are great ways to take a break, escape the heat or rain, and enjoy an amazing show.
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!
This is such a fun show to watch when looking for something to do at Hollywood Studios for adults. Join Indiana Jones and Marion as they reveal some of the secrets of the stunts from your favorite Indiana Jones movies. Adults will love how action-packed this show is, and will definitely enjoy the chance to take a break as well!
Plus, we grew up with Indiana Jones, and have a special place in our hearts for him! You don’t want to miss Indy performing some iconic stunts!
Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage
This is one of the best shows at Hollywood Studios (and honestly in all of Disney World), and it’s Broadway quality. The singing, costuming, and characterizations are all top notch, and you don’t want to miss out on this show.
My favorite part has got to be the costumes though! They are so gorgeous and well done, and bring your favorite Beauty and the Beast characters to life. Come sing along with your favorite songs, and feel some nostalgia for a little while.
Fantasmic!
This nighttime show is my favorite, and to me, it has to be on the list of what to do for adults at Hollywood Studios. It’s full of music, characters, and lots of pyrotechnics. It’s an exciting show, with a great message that I think adults will definitely understand more than children will.
Plus, who doesn’t want to end their Hollywood Studios for adults day helping Mickey Mouse fight the villains?
Bonus: Meet Star Wars Characters
Even though this doesn’t count as a show, the characters in Galaxy’s Edge are extremely entertaining. The Stormtroopers and Kylo Ren are snarky and fun to interact with, as well as meeting Rey and Chewbacca is fun for those who prefer the Resistance side of things.
The Stormtroopers and Kylo Ren have also been known to put on a small stage show from time to time, and this is always entertaining. Meeting some iconic Star Wars characters is absolutely one of the best Hollywood Studios activities for adults.
Best Adult-Friendly Snacks and Quick Service at Hollywood Studios
There are great snack and quick service options at Hollywood Studios as well, and adults will love the variety of options. There’s a lot of surprising diversity amongst the restaurants as well! Make sure to check out our favorites and add them to your list and your Hollywood Studios itinerary for adults.
Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
This has to be the most adventurous food at Hollywood Studios, and you don’t want to miss it! Adults will love the wild variety of the food here: poke, pork ribs, hot chicken, and even plant-based Kefta. The Batuuan Beef and Fried Endorian Chicken Tip Yip are also personal favorites.
This quick service restaurant also has a very cool Star Wars vibe, and is located towards the back of Galaxy’s Edge. Plus, it’s nice to eat a quick service that has real silverware and plates – something an adult will appreciate after lots of meals on theme park paper plates. You don’t want to skip this, and make sure you get the eclectic Outpost Puff for dessert!
Backlot Express
This is on our list of best restaurants at Hollywood Studios for adults because it’s consistently good and can be fairly quiet. They also tend to have a great seasonal items, including alcoholic ones for adults! It’s always worth taking a look at their mobile menu!
The food here is also above average for park food. The Teriyaki Chicken Bowl, Teriyaki Tofu Bowl, and Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork Burger are stars here, and are better than the basics you may get somewhere else.
BaseLine Tap House
If you’re looking for a great pub or bar in Hollywood Studios, BaseLine Tap House is it. There’s a great pub feel and an extensive alcohol menu – and they definitely have some of the best drinks for adults at Hollywood Studios.
You don’t to want to miss out on the Bavarian Pretzel and the California Cheese and Charcuterie Plate – these are the standouts as far as snacks go. Grab these and a cold drink and take a well-deserved break!
Visiting Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
If you’re looking for something amazing to add to your Hollywood Studios itinerary for adults, add spending some time in Galaxy’s Edge. Visiting the planet of Batuu is a must-do for those adults who grew up during any of the Star Wars eras, and love the franchise. But, you don’t have to be a huge Star Wars fan to enjoy this section.
You can still appreciate the incredible artistry that went into making this part of the park and the unique food offerings, even if you aren’t a superfan.
Galaxy’s Edge has some of the most adventurous and best food in Hollywood Studios, and like we mentioned before, Docking Bay 7 is a must do, and so is grabbing a Ronto Wrap over at Ronto Roasters. You can also try some funky and futuristic popcorn over at Kat Saka’s Kettle.
Looking for thrills? Our favorite ride Rise of the Resistance is in Galaxy’s Edge, and so is Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. Where else can you man the Millennium Falcon and work for Hondo Ohnaka on a smuggling mission?
Adults will also love the epic theming and total immersion while on Batuu. You forget that you’re in Hollywood Studios altogether, and Star Wars fans will definitely enjoy being able to Disney Bound or play up their outfits a little more here to reflect the feel of Galaxy’s Edge. I love just walking around and looking at the small details, and truth be told, the Millennium Falcon still takes my breath away.
And if you’re looking for some great adult drinks, Galaxy’s Edge didn’t leave you out! Some of the best drinks for adults at Hollywood Studios are in this section of the park! Blue Milk and Green Milk aren’t my favorite drinks, but are more palatable with a little libations in them.
You may want to book a reservation at Oga’s Cantina as well! This notorious bar is home to DJ R-3X, scoundrels, and great drinks! The Fuzzy Tauntaun is a popular choice because it makes your mouth tingle, and the Yub Nub is a must have for lovers of Ewoks. Also, don’t forget to get some Batuu Bits to snack on as well!
Pro tip: visit Galaxy’s Edge at night! The lighting is epic, and the buildings look so different after dark. Bring your lightsaber, grab a drink, and enjoy a nighttime stroll on Batuu.
There’s so much to do at Hollywood Studios for adults, and we hope you use our list of favorites to plan your perfect day! Go have some great food, ride the best Hollywood Studios attractions for adults, and see some amazing shows.
