If you love watching Disney movies like we do, the Disney Movie Club may be for you! This membership allows you to get new Disney movies sent to your house throughout the year. And you’ve most likely had a mailer sent you you at some point, and probably just thrown it away – we’re all guilty of that one.
But what would have happened if you hadn’t thrown it away and looked in to it? What would that membership offered you, and would it have been worth it? And do you really get 4 movies for just a $1?
We’ve answered all those questions here for you -and more! We’ve looked into the membership, and we have all the details and will give you the complete rundown on Disney’s DVD Club.
What is the Disney Movie Club?
The Disney Movie Club is a membership service that allows Disney lovers to fill their movie libraries with their favorite Disney movies as well as the newest Disney releases. You are able to purchase and receive Disney animated films, Marvel films, Pixar films, as well as other live-action Disney movies and Disney Classics.
You receive 4 movies with your initial sign-up, are able to buy both full-price and discounted Disney movies during the time of your membership, and you will receive special offers for movies and merchandise throughout the time of your membership as well.
You’re able to buy new movies as they are released, as well as catch older movies when they are released from the Disney movie vault. They also offer movie multi-packs and sets.
Do You Really Get 4 Movies for $1?
Yes! You absolutely do – but of course, there’s a catch.
Your first 4 movies only cost $1, and the shipping is free, but that’s with your membership and agreement to purchase full-priced items in order to fulfill your contract with the company. Which leads us to…
How Does the Disney Movie Club Work?
When you sign up for the Disney Movie Club, your first 4 Disney movies cost $1 and you receive free shipping on those titles, but the membership requires you to agree to purchase 5 full-priced movies throughout the next 2 years in order to get that deal. Once you buy your 5 movies then you have fulfilled the contractual obligation – what they call the membership agreement.
Once you sign up, you not only get your 4 Disney movies for $1, and you sign up to buy those 5 full-priced movies throughout those 2 years, but then you will receive an offer every 4 weeks to purchase the Featured Title Offer. The Featured Title Offer is typically the newest movie to be released, or may be an older Disney classic they are releasing for the vault. These Featured Title movies go towards your 5 full-priced movies that you are obligated to buy.
When you receive the email for the Featured Title Offer, you can buy that movie, or choose another title if that new release doesn’t interest you. You can also decline that offer, but you are still obligated to buy those 5 full-priced movies regardless, so keep in mind that you can’t continue to decline each offer.
Once you are a member you are also able to take advantage of special discounts, deals, and gifts and merchandise that are exclusive to members of the Disney movie club. You are able to choose DVD, Blu-ray, or 4K Ultra HD, so you get to pick the best movie quality for your liking.
If you choose any of the discounted titles or special offers, those are separate films available to purchase and cannot be used towards your 5 movies to fulfill the membership agreement.
Altogether, you are given up to 15 buying opportunities within a year.
If you choose the DVD plan, you can buy either DVDs or Blu-Rays (or the newly added 4K movies) to go towards your 5 movie agreement, but if you sign up for the Blu-Ray plan, any DVDs you purchase don’t go towards your full-priced movie obligation.
Once you choose your Featured Titles, they typically take about 1o days to ship to you. So you will be getting a movie every month or so if you order each Featured Title as they are offered.
How Much Does the Disney Movie Club Cost?
The membership plan itself doesn’t cost anything, but the full-priced DVDs start at $19.95. The Blu-Ray and 4K Ultra HD movies do cost more though, and the Blu-Ray plan has each movie at $29.95.
So the cheapest your two-year membership could cost is $100.75 if you choose the 4 movies for $1 and then get only the 5 full-priced DVDs. For the Blu-Ray plan you will spend $150.75.
If you add into the mix the additional Featured Title Offers and the additional discounted movies, you will most likely spend a couple hundred in those two years in order to fulfill the membership and take advantage of the new release movies.
Keep in mind that while the prices may be discounted sometimes on this site, you might be able to find some of these movies cheaper in your local stores, or even on the shopDisney site – especially when it comes to the older films.
How to Sign Up for the Disney Movie Club?
Signing up for the Disney Movie Club is very easy! In order to sign up, visit the Disney Movie Club site and you can start choosing your movies immediately. Once you choose your first 4 movies – and there are HUNDREDS to choose from initially – you will create your account.
After creating your account, which only requires an email and a password, you will input your name and address and then input your credit card information. The credit card you put in will be the card charged for your initial investment, as well as the card they will charge every time you take advantage of the monthly Featured Title Offer.
How to Cancel the Disney Movie Club?
You can cancel the Disney Movie Club, of course, but since it’s a program that requires a membership, it isn’t that cut and dry. Although you are able to cancel at any time, you will still be charged if you haven’t fulfilled the membership agreement of the 5 full-priced movie purchases. So you will be charged for however many movies you have left on your agreement – a minimum of $19.95 each for DVDS and $29.95 for Blu-Rays – as well as you will be charged for the processing, shipping, and sales tax.
In order to cancel, you can head to the website and contact them through the “Contact Us” link, or you can send them an email at DMCContactus@movieclubinfo.com. If you want to talk to someone, you can give them a call at 1-800-362-4587 Monday-Friday.
If you do plan on cancelling, it makes sense to only do it once your membership obligation has already been fulfilled. You’ll be charged the price of the movies any way so you might as well have something to show for it!
What Discount Does the Disney DVD Club Offer?
Once you have fulfilled your membership obligation with the Disney Movie Club, you’re then able to take advantage of even more discounts and deals. They offer 30%, 40%, and 50% off of movies throughout the year, as well as some free shipping offers.
The 30% and 40% offers are often accompanied by free shipping, but the 50% offer is never combined with a free shipping offer.
These discounts will change about every 4 weeks – typically around when the Featured Title Offers are emailed- and it’s definitely worth waiting for the 50% off discount to be offered. Free shipping is nice, but a half-off discount makes more sense and will be a better deal, especially when the shipping is typically only $1.49-$3.95.
Along with taking advantage of these discounted movies, you are eligible to purchase discounted movie sets and packs when offered. They also have exclusive gifts and members-only merchandise that you’re able to purchase once you are a member. Basically, they encourage you to spend more and purchase more movies in order to save more money.
How Do You Become a Disney Movie Club VIP?
After you fulfill the membership obligation of purchasing the 5 full-priced movies in two years, you then become a VIP. Once you’re a VIP you are able to take advantage of the discounts that we’ve mentioned. You’ll also be eligible to buy exclusive merchandise and the seasonal Featured Title Offers. VIPs are also sent gifts, including lithographs with some of the new releases and Featured Title Offers.
Also, the quicker you fulfill your membership agreement, the quicker you become a VIP. You could potentially buy the first 5 Featured Titles that are sent to you via email, and then you would be a VIP in just 6 months!
Who Will Like the Disney Movie Club?
Disney movie lovers will enjoy the Disney Movie Club, especially if they tend to spend a good amount of free time watching Disney movies. This will give them a chance to own and watch their favorites, and they’ll be able to get some new movies and make some new favorites.
Those who love collecting physical Disney movies will also like the Disney Movie Club, and they will be able to add a lot of physical movies to their library. This would be a great membership for those who are still holding onto their old Disney VHS classics and want to add to a coveted collection!
We also think those who want to keep up with new Disney movies may also enjoy the Disney Movie Club, since they will be able to snatch up the newest Disney movies as they are released.
Who Will Want to Skip the Disney Movie Club?
If you don’t care about collecting Disney movies, then the Disney Movie Club may not be for you. You will end up with at least 9 physical movies once you fulfill your membership obligation, and that may be too many for some people.
Having to fulfill the contractual obligation to order so many movies and pay for them in a short amount of time may not be for everyone. Ordering 9 movies sounds like a lot, and it could definitely be overwhelming for some.
Those who don’t watch a lot of movies – or a lot of Disney movies for that matter – may also want to skip the Disney DVD Club. Finding time to keep up with all the newest Disney films and finding time to watch them may take up too much time for some.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Disney Movie Club
If you decide to sign up for the Disney Movie Club, you want to be sure you get the most out of your membership. Like we mentioned before, becoming VIP as soon as possible helps you not only fulfill your membership agreement but it allows you to start advantage of the discounts and deals faster.
Once you’ve become VIP, take advantage of the discounts, the members-only merchandise, and, of course, the gifts you’ll be sent! The promotional deals will save you the most money and allow you to add to your collection for less.
If you become a member, refer your friends! For every friend you refer, you will receive two additional movie titles for free – all you have to pay is shipping.
And finally, become a member of Disney Movie Rewards. This is a website that gives you points and rewards for Disney movie purchases. Once you’re a member, you can input the unique code that’s on each Disney movie (as well as get credit for seeing movies in the theater!) into the site and you will receive points for it. Once you have enough points, you can turn these into rewards such as Disney gift cards, more Disney movies, and lots of Disney memorabilia.
We hope that we’ve answered any burning questions you may have had about the Disney Movie Club, and helped you understand how it works. And if you’d never heard of it before, we hope that you learned a lot and maybe even piqued your interest in this membership service.
If you’ve decided that the Disney Movie Club is right for you, then go ahead, sign up, and start enjoying! And if you need some ideas on what movies to start with, check out our seasonal movie lists – one list on Halloween movies and one list on Christmas movies – to give you a great starting place for some great, classic movies!

I’ll never understand why with these posts about DMC virtually NEVER show the cheapest method to use a DMC enrollment and always appear to take the worst case scenario. There have been easily searchable promo sign-up codes for at least 8 years that would allow a substantially cheaper enrollment and fulfillment of terms.
For US customers, 5 initial selections (DVD or Blu-ray) for $1 with a Toddler Blanket and Lifetime Free Shipping with only 3 further required regular priced purchases of $19.95 or greater over 24 months. Also at signup you get a chance to buy a bonus 6th title for $11.95 which counts as that 1st required purchase so only two more to buy at regular price. You’ll could also buy a 2nd Bonus title for $8.95, but it won’t count as a required purchase.
If you bought two further titles at $19.95 (some Blu-rays, but a lot of DVDs at this price). Most Blu-rays are 24.95-29.95 and 4KUHD titles for 29.95-34.95. It is quite possible to get in and out of DMC completely fulfilling your requirements for 8 titles for $54 or 9 titles for $63 (and sales tax for most states) utilizing DVD or Blurays and virtually no way it should cost more than $92 even if you chose 4KUHD as your 2 Full-priced commitment titles. That’s less than half at what the article suggests as a minimum.
