What to Wear in Disney in Fall
Bring a Variety of Options
Weather can vary greatly in Orlando during the fall months – September, October, and November – and you never know if it’s going to feel like the middle of summer or more like actual fall. If you’re going earlier in the fall, be prepared for sunny, hot, and more rain. It’s going to be more like summer. And if you’re going in November, be ready for cool nights and mornings, but still warm days.
Pro tip: if you’re bringing a hoodie or lightweight jacket for those cool mornings and nights, make sure you either use a Disney locker or bring a backpack you can pack your jacket into. And if you’re looking for more information on what to pack in your park bag, we have some great ideas for packing your bag for the parks!
Prepare for Rain
September is just as rainy as summer sometimes, and we have to remind you that the fall months are part of the Atlantic hurricane season. It is most active from August to October, and even though hurricanes rarely hit Disney World, there might still be bands of rain from offshore/close-by storms.
It’s honestly a great idea to be prepared for rain anytime you visit Disney World, and have a poncho, lightweight rain jacket, or even a travel umbrella when you visit. If you’re planning what to wear in Disney I fall, make sure that rain protection is on that list.
Wear Comfortable Shoes
I always recommend comfortable shoes for wearing in Disney World, and figuring out what shoes to wear to Disney in fall isn’t any different. Make sure you bring your comfiest, most broken-in tennis shoes and most reliable shoes you know you can stand and walk in for hours. We even have an entire post on our favorite shoes to wear to Disney too if you want more info!
It’s also a great idea to have waterproof shoes for occasional rain showers and water rides! You don’t want to accidentally ruin a pair of shoes you love because it pours, and it’s a great idea to have a backup pair of socks in your bag just in case.
Disney Outfit Ideas for Fall
When planning what to wear in Disney in fall, it may not look like what you wear during the fall back home if you live somewhere much cooler than Florida. You most likely won’t need a large coat, sweaters, or boots. We do recommend a lightweight jacket or hoodie for some cooler nights later in fall, and some rain protection no matter which month you go.
I also recommend taking advantage of the season! Incorporate some fun Halloween touches into your outfits, and be inspired by fall, Thanksgiving, and maybe even by the Food & Wine Festival if you are going to that. This is a great time for Disneybounding for you and the whole family!
Disney Outfit Ideas for September
When it comes to what to wear in Disney in September, you want to follow the rules we laid out for summer. September can be as hot as 90°F/32°C, and is much more rainy than the other fall months. Dress for the warm weather, and make sure you’re still ready for humidity and rain!
Use our September outfit ideas for Disney World as starting places for your own:
- Still feels like summer? Pair a lightweight tank top with comfortable jean shorts, and top it off with your favorite chunky sneakers and sunglasses! Also, add on a Disney hat for some fun!
- It’s always fun to be inspired by fall, so a graphic tee paired with some comfy athletic shorts and waterproof sandals are perfect for a hot, fall Disney day!
- Have a favorite character? Disneybound as your favorite – like Minnie Mouse! Wear a polka dot top, a pretty skirt, and even a pair of colorful tennis shoes inspired by her! Don’t forget your Minnie ears too!

Disney Outfit Ideas for October
When it comes to what to wear in Disney in October, you can still look forward to wearing your shorts and tanks, but the weather is starting to cool down a little bit. Temperatures are as high as 85°F/29°C, but can get as low as 68°F/20°C. It’s typically less rainy, but still have a rain jacket or poncho. And I love a Halloween moment, so October is the perfect time for Halloween and villain outfits!
Use our October outfit ideas for Disney World as starting places for your own:
- It’s almost Halloween so the whole family needs Disney Halloween shirts! Pair them with black bike shorts, your favorite tennis shoes, and some Halloween ears and you can’t go wrong!
- This is the perfect time for a villain Disneybound, like Ursula! Wear a pale purple t-shirt underneath a black lightweight dress, and add purple sneakers! And don’t forget your shell necklace to house Ariel’s voice!
- If it’s starting to cool off while you’re there, it’s a great time to break out the jeans! Pair your favorite jeans with a lightweight active tee, and still top it off with a pair of slip-on tennis shoes and a Disney baseball cap.

Disney Outfit Ideas for November
When looking at what to wear in Disney in November, you want to be prepared for the coolest weather of the three fall months. It can still get as warm as 78°F/25°C but can also be as cool as 60°F/15°C. It’s also the driest of the fall months, so you won’t need that raincoat every day. This is the perfect month for packing lightweight cardigans, jackets, and hoodies, and being inspired by the season!
Use our November outfit ideas for Disney World as starting places for your own:
- Going during the cooler fall months is a perfect time to wear seasonal colors – wear a white t-shirt with a lightweight burgundy skirt, and have a cardigan you can pack in your bag for cool mornings and nights.
- If you’re going to EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival, wear food/wine-themed shirts or even Remy from Ratatouille gear. We love a Remy graphic tee paired with leggings, slip-on shoes, and a good appetite!
- Going near Turkey Day? Time for the family to wear Disney Thanksgiving tees paired with jeans, colorful shoes, and lightweight jackets for cool nights.

Kids Outfit Ideas in Disney in Fall
Choosing Disney outfit ideas for fall for kids should be very similar to what you choose for yourself. Be prepared for summer-like weather in September, pack lightweight layering options for cooler weather in November, and feel inspired by Halloween, fall, and even Thanksgiving.
Remember that when it comes to what to wear in Disney in the fall, kids should be practical, and comfortable, and shouldn’t take a lot of effort. They should wear broken-in shoes, items that are lightweight and comfy, and things they will be able to wear all day.
- If you’re going for a family matching moment, we love Disney Halloween family tees with athletic shorts, and colorful slip-on shoes.
- Also, kids can wear costumes! Even if you aren’t doing Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, kids under 13 can wear costumes. Let your kid dress as their favorite princess or character, and keep it comfy with practical shoes.

Disney Packing List by Weather
Because the weather can vary so much in Florida, especially in the fall, knowing what to pack and wear will help you to from bringing too much or being unprepared! Knowing what to pack for Disney World in the fall will help streamline what you bring with you, and you’ll be ready for whatever Orlando fall brings! Here’s how to adjust your outfits based on the weather:
If it is Hot & Sunny…
If the fall weather feels more like summer, then make sure you have shorts, lightweight and light-colored tops, and waterproof shoes. Have on your warm weather clothing, bring sunglasses and hats to block the sun off your face, and have your sunscreen ready to go. Make sure you are wearing comfortable, lightweight clothing that will keep you cool when it still feels like summer.
If it is Rainy…
Bring your lightweight rain jacket and poncho with you for those rainy days, and be prepared for any type of tropical weather that could happen as well. You need to have waterproof shoes and jackets, and even a packable umbrella for potential downpours. Also, because it can still be warm, make sure your rain coverings are lightweight so you aren’t adding any additional warmth to your September and October outfits!
If it is Cool…
If you’re going in November or it happens to be cooler when you go, your Disney World fall clothes should have light layers that you can pack into your bag if it warms up. Lightweight cardigans, hoodies, jean jackets, and even Disney Spirit Jerseys are perfect for throwing over a t-shirt or tank during cooler times. It’s not a bad idea to have jeans and/or leggings on hand as well, because the cooler nights can be breezy sometimes and a jacket might not be enough.
