What to Wear in Disney in Spring

Bring a Variety of Options

Weather in Orlando can vary greatly during the spring months – March, April, and May – and it can still be as chilly as 58°F/14°C, or get as warm as 88°F/31°C. If you’re going in the earlier months of spring, it’s a good idea to bring a lightweight jacket, jeans, or leggings to be ready for those chillier days and nights.

Pro tip: If you end up bringing a lightweight jacket or hoodie for the mornings and nights, make sure you have a backpack or bag that will fit your jacket so you don’t have to lug it around all day. We have some great ideas for how to pack your park bag too! You can also use one of the Disney lockers that are available at all parks as well.

Wear Comfortable Shoes

If you’re wondering what shoes to wear in Disney in spring, we got you! Wearing comfortable shoes is important no matter when you visit Disney World, but during warmer and wetter months, it’s definitely important. Bring your favorite, broken-in sneakers or your most reliable comfort shoes.

We also recommend slip-on style sneakers, comfortable sandals, and even waterproof shoes for the later spring months. Those are warmer and rainier, and it wouldn’t hurt to bring an extra pair of socks for rainy days too! We have an entire post on the best shoes for Disney World if you want to see some of favorites too!

Break Out the Shorts

April and May specifically are pre-summer in Florida. The temps are getting hotter, the humidity is starting to get higher, and you are going to begin to feel that sticky summer feeling. Make sure you bring shorts, t-shirts, lightweight and comfortable clothing for those later months.

It’s also a great idea to bring clothing with built-in UPF/SPF for added protection, and consider lighter weight fabrics for the warmer months.

Disney Outfit Ideas for Spring

What to wear in Disney in spring will be a combination of lightweight clothing and summery options, some pants and jackets, and of course, some Disney magic! For March, feel free to add in some green for St. Patrick’s Day, for April you can do some Easter-inspired outfits, and if you’re visiting EPCOT at any time during the spring, you can be inspired by the Flower & Garden Festival! This is a great time to do some Disneybounding with the whole family.

Disney Outfit Ideas for March

For what to wear in Disney in March, you want a lightweight jacket, maybe a pair of pants, and some springy inspiration! March is the coldest of the spring months, and the driest, but you still want to be prepared for anything. You can add a Disney hat or ears to any of these outfits to complete the look and out your spin on them.

Use our March outfit ideas for Disney World as starting places for your own:

  • Nothing says spring at Disney like wearing a new colorful sweatshirt or Spirit Jersey, a pair of comfy leggings, and your favorite sneakers! Bring on the bright and pastel colors for a touch of spring, and top off your outfit with a new pair of ears.
  • Going near St. Patricks Day? The whole family can wear green! Green Mickey and Minnie t-shirts, a pair of jeans, and slip-on sneakers are the perfect outfits for the family this time of year.
  • Chilly or wet March day? Throw a lightweight rain jacket over a Disney graphic tee and skinny jeans, and top off the outfit with some great waterproof ankle boots!

Disney Outfit Ideas for April

Arguably one of the best months to visit Disney World, April is getting warmer, spring has sprung, and flowers are everywhere. What to wear in Disney in April should be spring inspired! Have fun incorporating florals, Easter, and more warm-weather clothing.

Use our April outfit ideas for Disney World as starting places for your own:

  • Nothing says spring at Disney like a lightweight sundress! Add some cute chunky white sneakers and some colorful ears, and you’ve got the perfect April Disney outfit!
  • If you’re going near Easter, the whole family can wear cute outfits that involve bunnies – I mean, why not? Disney Easter graphic tees with comfortable jean shorts make for a great April outfit. Don’t forget some comfortable sneakers, and your sunglasses too!
  • If you’re going to visit Flower & Garden Festival, I definitely think you should lean into the florals! A floral top, a lightweight skirt with hidden shorts, and cute tennis shoes are a fun way to be inspired by the festival.

Disney Outfit Ideas for May

May is pre-summer. It’s the hottest and most humid month of spring in Orlando, and can get as warm as 88°F/31°C. Be ready for these warmer temps, and break out the summer clothes and sunscreen during this month. You can also still be inspired by Flower & Garden Festival, as well as matching outfits for Mother’s Day, and some Star Wars fun for “May the 4th.”

Use our May outfit ideas for Disney World as starting places for your own:

  • If you’re going to be there for “May the 4th” (or even “Revenge of the 5th”), you have to have a little Star Wars fun. A white athletic dress paired with white sneakers and a silver belt is very Princess Leia, and you can of course do your hair like hers or add on some Leia-inspired ears!
  • For Mother’s Day, the littles can match mom for some family fun and Disney-inspired style – mom can wear a cute “mama” Disney tee with jean shorts and sneakers, and the littles can wear matching shirts. Don’t forget ears for this one too!
  • For this warmer weather, an oversized, lightweight Disney tee and bike shorts are always a win. Pair with some comfortable sandals, and you’re ready for warm weather and long days!

Kids Outfit Ideas for Disney in Spring

Choosing spring outfit ideas for Disney World for kids will be very similar to adults – think comfy shoes, being prepared for different temps, and breaking out the summer clothes, and still adding in magical Disney touches. Planning these Disney World outfits for spring shouldn’t be hard. Just know that the kids outfits should be practical and comfortable, and they should be wearing in broken-in shoes too!

I also love a matching moment! When it comes to figuring out what to wear in Disney in spring, make the kids match the parents! Everyone can wear the same character/franchise, the same colors, or even the same sneakers!

  • If you’re going to match the parents, we love family Disney graphic tees with lightweight athletic shorts, and colorful tennis shoes!
  • Kids can also be inspired by the season, wearing a floral sundress, comfortable slip-on shoes, and topped with a baseball cap to keep the outfit casual and the sun off their faces!

Disney Packing List by Weather

Because the weather can vary so much in Florida, knowing what to pack for Disney World in spring can take a little planning. Knowing how to pack for each type of weather will ensure that you’re prepared for whatever Florida spring throws your way. Here’s how to adjust your outfits based on the weather for Disney in spring:

If it is Rainy…

Make sure you have a lightweight rain jacket to throw over your clothes. If you prefer a poncho, those will always fit right over top of whatever you’re wearing too! Because it’s getting warmer, make sure that whatever waterproof option you choose isn’t heavy, and shouldn’t make you too warm while wearing it. It’s a great idea to have waterproof shoes or a packable umbrella as well, especially when it starts to get rainier in April and May.

If it is Hot…

Like I said, spring can feel downright like summer in Orlando, and if you’re not used to that wear you live, you need to be prepared for the heat. Lightweight clothes, lighter colored clothing, and shorts/tanks/t-shirts will keep you from being too hot in the later spring months.

Have your sunglasses with you, and even a hat to keep the sun off your face and head. These will come in handy on bright, sunny, and summery feeling days.

If it is a Little Chilly…

Especially during March and April, you may still encounter some chillier weather. I’ve worn pants to watch the fireworks in late April, so it’s great to be ready for these occasional chilly mornings and nights. Bring a lightweight jacket or cardigan, some leggings or sweatpants, or jeans to be prepared. You don’t want to have to buy something unnecessarily because you didn’t have what you needed.

Essential Extras for Your Disney Packing for Spring

There are a few more things you might want to consider adding to your Disney World packing list for spring. Because of the varied weather, the threat of rain, and long days, we want you to be comfortable and ready for anything. Some of these things I’ve already mentioned, but they are worth reiterating! We also have a more extensive packing list for those of you who want even more packing info!

  • Rain jacket/poncho: these are great to have for wet days and can easily be packed away in a bag or locker. Keeping them lightweight also means you won’t get too hot wearing them if it’s warm outside.
  • Shorts: summer is almost here in Florida in spring, so be prepared for the warmer weather. It’s a great time to break out the shorts!
  • Bathing suits: the pools at Disney are always open, the weather is getting warm, and water parks are also a great option this time of year! Bring your favorite bathing suit and enjoy the warm weather.
  • Sandals: did we mention it’s getting warm? It’s a great time to bring comfortable sandals – not cheap flip flops – for park days, or even just to walk around the resort and go to the pool.
  • Sunscreen: Sunscreen is important no matter when you go to Florida, but when it starts to get warmer and sunnier it’s even more important. Bring the sunscreen that works best for you, and help protect you skin from burning and dangerous rays.
  • Portable phone charger: This is another thing we recommend for all seasons at Disney, but it’s definitely important when the weather gets warmer – you might be spending longer days in the park, and you don’t want your phone dying on those days!
  • Sunglasses: If it’s sunny, you’ll need these! Florida is much closer to the equator so the sun can be much stronger, no matter the season.
  • Hats: These will help keep your head warm if it’s chilly, and will keep the sun off your head and face on warmer days.
  • Disney merchandise: don’t forget your ears, hats, shirts, and Spirit Jerseys! When it comes to what to wear in Disney in spring, Disney characters and items will always be the right answer!
