Starstruck

A Disney Channel original movie from 2010, Starstruck is the story of what happens when celebrity singer Christopher Wilde meets and falls for a regular girl. It feels like a pretty organic love story – especially for a Disney Channel original – and the film is full of catchy songs that you’ll be able to remember years later! And you can watch it right now on Disney+.

The Blue Umbrella

Whilst The Blue Umbrella may not technically be a movie, it is 6 minutes of pure romance. Who knew shorts could be so romantic? But when Pixar starting popping these gems into our movies we were hooked. The Blue Umbrella is one of the greatest and you can’t help but feel a little more romantic after watching it, which is why it deserves a place on the most romantic Disney movies list. Hercules is one of the classic animated Disney movies that often seems to be forgotten. An epic tale of one man’s fight to find his place in the world and join his family in Olympus, Hercules has a bit of something for everyone. Including some romance with one of the best Disney characters ever created, Meg. Their romance has some added dimensions which some of the other classic animated romantic Disney movies are sometimes missing. You can find it on Disney+ for a fun, romantic date night movie.

Never Been Kissed

Another Shakespeare retelling from the 90’s, Never Been Kissed stars Drew Barrymore as a nerdy reporter who goes back to high school undercover for a lifestyle piece for her magazine. She must relive her past high school trauma but manages to find love along the way. It’s based loosely on As You Like It and is a great comedy as well as a wonderful romantic Disney movie that you can watch on Disney+ now. It also features James Franco in his film debut.

High School Musical

People love to hate on High School Musical but it is in actual fact the most successful Disney Channel Original Movie ever created which leads us to believe that people actually secretly love it. It’s probably due to its catchy soundtrack and casting – Zac Efron is still a lot of people’s crush! The romance between Troy and Gabrielle is also quite touching at times making it one of the best romantic Disney movies to add to your list for date night. All 3 High School Musicals are available to watch on Disney+, along with the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, a Disney+ Original.

Paperman

Paperman is an award winning short film that explores the idea of never giving up on love. The Princess and the Frog

If you don’t believe in love at first sight then The Princess and the Frog may just be the romantic Disney movie for you. When Tiana and Naveen first meet there is certainly no love at first sight, and, in fact, they spend most of the movie on their way to get another woman to kiss him! But whilst they do end up in love by the end, it is not their romance that is the highlight of this film. That belongs to Ray and his love for Evangeline. A true romantic movie that you can watch on Disney+.

Aladdin

Aladdin teaches us that love knows no boundaries when Princess Jasmine falls for the street-rat, Aladdin. Together they push back against the things trying to keep them apart and they end up getting their happily ever after. Recently remade into a live action film, Aladdin is a great choice if you’re looking for romantic Disney movies and both versions, as well as the under-appreciated animated Aladdin sequels are available on Disney+.

While You Were Sleeping

A Sandra Bullock classic, While You Were Sleeping is a great romantic Disney movie for any date night. It also features on our Best Disney Christmas Movies list as well, so if you’re having a December date night this could be a great film for you. Sandra Bullock stars as a Chicago subway worker who has loved a man from afar, until she saves his life and ends up pretending to be his fiancé. Superbly written, this is a classic movie that everyone should watch, and you can watch it now on Disney+.

It’s so great that you included Tangled! Not only is it one of my favorite movies but the lantern scene might be the most romantic scene ever in the history of cinema.
