If you’re looking for the best themed rooms in all of Walt Disney World, you’ve found the right place! We are going to visit some of the most epically themed rooms around Disney World, and recommend the best ones for your family.

We know that Disney loves to theme EVERYTHING, and some of the resorts offer rooms that have theming that even goes above and beyond. So read on, and discover some of the best themed rooms at Disney World, and why they should be on your list for your next stay!

While every hotel on Disney property has some form of theming, some of the resorts take hotel rooms theming to a whole new level. There’s definitely a difference between the “regular” ones and the few that are the best Disney resorts with themed rooms. There are even some with over the top theming, and some have very subtle but effective touches.

Located at just 5 of the resorts out of over 20, these resorts offer epically themed rooms, an amazing attention to detail, and even some of the best views. These 5 are some of the best when it comes to Disney World’s themed hotels, and the rooms here will totally immerse you into your favorite movies!

Best Themed Rooms at Disney World

Little Mermaid Rooms

Located at Art of Animation (AOA), one of the Value Resorts, the Little Mermaid rooms might be one of the cutest and best themed rooms in all of Disney World. The rooms are full of ocean blues, touches of Ariel are found everywhere, and Flounder and Sebastian decorate the walls. And don’t be surprised to find seashells all around the room and bathroom.

This room is a standard room, with the choice of either 1 King Bed or 2 Queen Beds. Even though this room is so cute, it is smaller than the other themed rooms at Art of Animation. This section of rooms is also the farthest from Animation Hall (where the food and check-in are), the Skyliner station, and the walkway to Pop Century.

These rooms are great for those who love Little Mermaid, and especially little ones who love the ocean, sea creatures, and Ariel! It’s a fun theme for little kids, and families.

Art of Animation is one of the Disney resorts with themed rooms, and its sister resort, Pop Century doesn’t. And if you want to decide between the rooms at Pop Century and the best themed rooms at Art of Animation, you can check out our article comparing the two here!

Lion King Family Suites

Also located at Art of Animation, the Lion King suites are family suites designed to sleep up to 6 adults or a small family. The one Queen Bed is in a separate bedroom, and the double-size sleeper sofa and double-size table bed are located in the public space.

These rooms are decorated in a green, earthy, and tropical way. Colorful animals and plants are found all over the room, and a sleeping Simba is above the pull-down table bed. You’ll feel as if you are hanging out with Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa, and will enjoy the cool Lion King touches all around.

We think these suites might be better choices for families with little ones, or with kids who love the Lion King.

These exotic rooms are some of the best themed rooms at AOA, as well as some of this section is fairly close to Animation Hall. If you are looking on staying here, make sure to request one of the closer rooms.

Moana Themed Rooms

Located at the Polynesian Village Resort, one of the Deluxe Resorts at Disney World, you will find light Moana theming at the non-Disney Vacation Club (DVC) rooms. These are some of the best themed rooms for adults or families with older kids, because the theming isn’t in your face.

The standard rooms have Polynesian theming with decorative wallpaper, a beautiful painting of Moana, and touches of tropical plants around the room and bathroom. Don’t forget to look for Maui in the wallpaper, and enjoy the subtle, beautiful theming in one of the best Disney decorated rooms.

Because the theming in these rooms is more elevated and isn’t so in-your-face as the rooms at the Value and Moderate Resorts, families with older children and with no children will enjoy these rooms. You get nice Disney theming and a beautiful room that isn’t childish.

They also sleep up to 5 adults, and have either Queen bed or King bed configurations.

The Polynesian Village Resort is a favorite of the Deluxe Resorts, and you can see how it stacks up against our other Deluxe choices here.

Incredibles Themed Rooms

These modern, fun rooms are located at the Contemporary Resort, another of the Deluxe Resorts at Disney World. All of the non-DVC rooms in both the Main Tower and the Garden Wing have Incredibles theming.

All of the rooms are grey and neutral with red and black touches, and subtle Incredibles characters can be found on the pillows and curtains. Try and see how many of the characters you can find!

Just like the rooms at the Polynesian Village Resort, none of the theming here is over the top. All of it is subtle, elevated, and tastefully done. Adults and families with older children will enjoy staying here, as will lovers of Pixar!

And of course, staying at the Contemporary gives you the best proximity to the Magic Kingdom. You can walk over in less than 10 minutes, or hop onto the monorail – especially since it runs through the hotel! You can also catch the monorail over to Epcot here too!

And you can’t mention the Contemporary without mentioning that you can get theme park view rooms here, where you can watch the fireworks from your hotel room!

For these reasons, it might be worth staying here and seeing how we compare the Contemporary to the other Monorail resorts! Check out our article about it!

These rooms also have the different configurations with Queen and King beds.

Royal Guest Rooms

If you, or someone in your party, is completely princess obsessed, then the Royal Guest Rooms at Port Orleans Riverside are for you! These are elegant, and extremely well-themed! Gold and rich colors, tons of princess details, and little details can be found all over the room and bathroom.

One of the reasons these are some of the best themed rooms at Disney World is the scenes on the headboards. Colorful, beautiful bayou scenes full of trees, plants, and fireflies hang over the two beds, and when you turn them on, a fireworks show will light up the headboard. Such a magical surprise!

These rooms have 2 Queen Beds, and sleep up to 4 adults. They are located in the two mansions in the section of Magnolia Bend. Unfortunately, these rooms aren’t close to Riverside Mill Food Court, so take this into consideration. But they are the only princess themed rooms at Disney, so they are worth the walk!

Cars Family Suites

Another option at AOA, these family suites sleep up to 6 adults, and have the same bed configuration as the Lion King suites. The theming in these rooms are perfect for lovers of Cars, because Disney has gone ALL OUT in these rooms. Even if they aren’t your style, they are some of the best rooms at Disney when it comes to theming.

The dressers here look like toolboxes, the lights all look like hazard cones, and there’s Cars theming everywhere in these rooms. They spared no shortage of details, down to Tow Mater sleeping on the headboard of the table bed.

Even though these are some of the best themed rooms at Art of Animation, these are kind of far from the centralized locations like Animation Hall and the Skyliner Station. If you’re looking to make the use of staying at one of the Skyliner hotels, check out our tips on it here!

Savanna View Rooms

Located at Animal Kingdom Lodge, these are some of the best rooms at Disney, and it’s not necessarily because of the “theming.” Both the sections of this resort – Jambo House and Kidani Village – offer epic views of the Savanna and all the animals that live there!

The rooms themselves have light theming, with animals carved into the furniture, everything made of rich woods and fit into the feel of Animal Kingdom Lodge. The view of the Savanna makes this and over the top experience, and really makes you feel like you are somewhere else – maybe not even on Disney property. You’ll be able to see over 30 types of animals, and may even be lucky enough to see them being fed and cared for too!

One of the best parts of the Savanna view rooms here is that they are available to both standard and DVC guests. This makes it a great choice for using DVC points or renting DVC points, and you can read about how to do that to stay at this resort here!

Finding Nemo Family Suites

It may be no surprise that our last room on the list is also at Art of Animation, and that makes it one of the best Disney hotels with themed rooms. These rooms have the same bed configuration as the other suites, and also sleeps up to 6 adults.

These rooms are so epically themed with ocean blue carpet, pink and red touches of coral and underwater creatures, and even a shark shower curtain with Bruce and crew. The bathroom mirror even looks like a porthole!

Just like the other family suites at AOA, these suites are very over the top when it comes to color and theming, and may be a better fit for smaller children. The elements are definitely more cartoonish, and fit the extreme theming of the hotel.

When it comes to the themed rooms, this could be the best at AOA because of the proximity to Animation Hall, the Skyliner Station, and the walkway to Pop Century.

The cute theming, the ability to use to the Skyliner as transportation, and the overall choices of the best themed rooms makes Art of Animation one of the best Value Resorts too! And if you want to know how it stacks up against the other Value Resorts, then visit our article on them.

The rooms and headboards are cute but I would NOT say “Best Themed Rooms” They meet the minimum expectation for a themed resort. Disney can do better for the price.
