Initially, I wanted to put a backpack on this list, but honestly, a backpack is better for Disney, not Universal. Size matters at Universal. Most rides offer free lockers with your ticket, but these lockers are small. You want to be able to fit everything in it and not pay for a bigger locker.
Thus, fanny packs are your best bet. Not only does this keep your items on your waist or across your chest, but it’s easy to store. It’ll help you stay organized and is so much easier than keeping everything in your pockets. Some rides will even let you on with a fanny!
10. Hats
Gear up before you go! Hats in the park are cute, but they can be an investment if you’re buying one for everyone in the family. Hats are a great way to practice safety in the sun. And trust me, there will be sun.
Amazon has a ton of Universal-themed hats as well, which makes sure you’re on point with all the trends! Pick your favorite franchise: Super Mario, Hogwarts, Jurassic Park, Marvel, and the list goes on and on! Some hats on Amazon aren’t in the parks either… which means you’ll stand out!
11. Lanyards
Most Universal Studios tickets, annual passes included, should have easy access. Whether you’re using a pass for a discount on merchandise, or park-hopping, digging through wallets, or trying to pull up screenshots online are a pain and waste of time. Don’t be afraid to invest in lanyards for them!
While the park sells them, they are, once again, expensive. Order a few online before you go! You can even theme them! Most of the time you can also just tuck the lanyard in your shirt for rides… or just put them in your fanny pack and pull them out with ease!

Whether you’re on water rides or avoiding rain, protect those electronic devices! This is especially applicable if you’re spending some time at Volcano Bay and you want active photos of your day in the water and on the rides!
